The keyboard on my laptop is not working.

When I try and type 'The' all that appears is 'e'

Any ideas what could be wrong? I have a plug in keyboard in case anyone asks how I'm typing this :-)

It's possible your keyboard is faulty (just a stab in the dark)

it could be the board itself - or it could be the cable that connects to the mobo.

but it's prabably a screwdriver job.
Some lappys have clips to hold the keyboard in - you need to look in the book of words

Hmmmm...!!

I'm stupid. Can you explain that as if you're telling a ten year old?

:-)
What AC is saying is that it sounds like a hardware fault, you may be lucky and it just needs the cable re-connecting but if not then it's probably a new keyboard at the least, at worst it's a new main board in the laptop.

How do I reconnect?

It's not really a job I suggest anybody tries if they are not sure what they are doing, laptops are not the easiest things to get to pieces and the connectors for things like the keyboard are very easy to break if you don't know exactly how to release them.
