How do you get a car sticker to stick properly??

Odd question, I know, but how do you get a car sticker to stick properly once it's started doing that dried up peeling off thing?

i know it's not an answer but i think the adhesive has had it.
depending upon how important the sticker is to you, sellotape. however the glue in that will also fall flat on its face at some point.
I hate it when that dried up peeling off thing starts to happen, but I do like your phrase :)
