So i have 3 kittens and 1 momma cat and last night 1 kitten and the cat were chocking really bad. They do that sometimes (i assume its just hairballs) but this time it was very bad and it seemed they couldnt breathe, my kitten was espeically bad - it sounded like he had a chest infection his chest was so rumbly! He was then sick A LOT and the chocking still hasnt stopped today. Should i be worried?

has the kitten been outdoors yet?
I would get the kitten to the emergency vet straight away if it looks and sounds nasty.
make sure they have plenty of water at all times if this continues get to a vet asap x
I would get an emergency vet out a.s.a.p it could be anything and not worth the risk of waiting with such a little one.Good luck, keep us posted.g.

Thanks all,

Yes he is usually outside a lot but is now just lying down beside me wherever i move too - strange for him! Poor boy sounds like a rattle when he breathes!
I phoned the vet but because its a sunday the cost is sky high and as my parents are away on holiday i dont have the money for it!!
If it was just a furball could it last this long? His first symtoms started appearing at about 7 last night.

Thanks, xxx
my cat was doing the same thing and the vet said he might have a grass seed stuck behind his soft pallette. my cat just stopped wheezing so he was okay, but the other option was an exploratory op.
Oh for goodness sake, please take this poor kitten to a vet NOW! Why are you wasting time on here asking strangers who perhaps cant give you a cure....or a solution. How old is your kitten ? I doubt its a hairball at such a young age, but it sounds terrible, please dont let it suffer anymore, forget the cost, ask the vet to bill your parents ? Failing that you may not be able to afford the vet fee, but would you rather have a dead kitten ????? Get off here and get to a vet ! IMHO it's not a case of money, why have pets if you can't afford to keep them.
If it sounds like a rattle when he breathes then it is very likely to a be a grass seed lodged somewhere in his throat like Sara says. Tigger had the same problem last year and was being sick all over the place. I took her to the vet and she was operated on.

Do you not have pet insurance?
if its that bad the r s p c a will have an emergancy help line number
Well said Redrum.
Nearest vet, and quick. Let your parents worry about the bill later.

Updates,
Took all of your advice (Thank you SO much for encouraging me to go to the vet!! I was stupid enough to feel bad for 'wasting their time' when i clearly wasnt!!) and got the emergency app.

Poor chap was in such a state, he is usually so well behaved but he was snapping and crying when the vet touched him. They've kept him in overnight to get x-rays but say something has caused too much gas in his abdomen so they cant get a clear view. They phoned this morning to say they were putting a camera down his throat and i havn't heard since.

Just want to say a huge THANK YOU for the advice, don't know what i would have done without it! Will keep you updated if you'd like.
Glad you did the right thing. Yes, please do let us know what's happening with the kitten when you hear from the vet. Also, how is the mother cat and the other two kittens, as you said the mother cat was also having problems with choking. When do your parents get back? In the meantime, you will just have to do what is necessary and right for the cat/kittens. Any further problems with the ones at home, contact vet asap. Hope all goes well. Good luck.

Well my kitten has stayed in overnight at the vets for 2 nights and was on a drip. We are getting him home this afternoon but our cat and one other kitten have chocked or coughed a few times, they are not in an emergency state like the first kitten but it is still odd.
Will ask the vet this afternoon, but do you think it could be something like carbon monoxide poisoning as both me and my sister are ill currently.
Thanks.
