Big fuss about anniversary of Faulty Towers. Am I on my own when I say that I hated the programme?

I was never a fan of Fawlty Towers. I watched them all but never found one of them to be funny. They were a bit too "slapstick" for my taste. However, I realise that I am in a VERY small minority. Most people absolutely loved them.
At the time they were first broadcast they were highly amusing, but after seeing repeats so many times they lose their appeal.
Also quite tame in comparison with todays comedy programmes. Some of the new ones are quite raunchy!

no, i didnt like them either, couldnt find anything funny in them
Comedy is entirely subjective, but a massive number of people love FT - I am one of them I have to say.

It's pointless trying to explain what one person finds funny to someone who doesn't share their humour, but the two series have grown to iconic status over the thirty years, hence the renewed interest in them.

For the record, ignore the slapstick elements and look at the subtle cluster-bombs of plot that are launched as each episode develops, and see them explode by the end.

Well, I like it.
Well I'd rather watch FT 100 times than 1 episode of any of the soaps. As Andy says , it's all subjective.

i thought it was crap
I've always loved FT and my daughter watched part of the documentary last night with us. She thought it was hilarious-she's 12 so it's obviously a timeless classic.
Yes.

It would be a boring world , if everyone liked the same thing - Wouldn't it ?

I personally cant see anything funny about the current crop of 'commedians - or comedys ' - yet some people fall off their chairs in laughter - subjective is the word .
