Umax scanner problem

Hi,

Hope someone can help. I have a Umax 2100U flatbed scanner, which I use as a backup to my Lexmark all-in-one.

The problem is that whatever I scan, the resultant image has a broad (2" approx) multi-coloured watermark, running vertically down the right-hand side. Apart from that, the image quality is perfect. However, the strange thing is that if I select COPY rather than SCAN, the output to the printer produces a perfect reproduction of the copied document but that is of no use to me when I want to save to file, since copy to file is not available.

Any ideas, anyone ?

uninstall / re install the drivers

btw the scanner won't work with vista

Done that - No different. It's the fact that the software does not allow COPY to file which is annoying.

Mysteriously, after several attempts, with different documents, the problem seems to have disappeared. The only difference was that I selected advanced settings instead of beginner.
