Help! Has anyone been to this restaurant? We have booked in as a very special can't-really-afford-it treat for my boyfriend's birthday, but I have just read some really terrible reviews online. They complain mainly about the service - if it was just a few epicures complaining about the food I wouldn't worry as we are easily impressed in that respect, but awful service can really ruin an evening...

Have eaten there a couple of times. Food is good, but service varies from either being intrusive (for my liking) or negligent. I've also heard similar views from other who have been.

IMHO, I would much rather eat at "Barn at the Biscuit", on Stoddart Street ( just off Newgate Street). Not quite as expensive as the Baltic, better food ( in my opinion) and excellent, but relaxed service. I have taken several people there and have had nothing but positive comments.

I've been there and thought the food was pretty good although slightly on the pricey side. I seem to recall the service was pretty good, although I do recall waiting an inordinate amount time for a table, even though we'd booked. We went there in the first few weeks of them opening, so we put it down to teething problems.
I went there with about 10 people from work and the food and service was excellent but then again my company is a regular customer and we were spending an extortionate amount of money there. What a view down the river at night though!
