Once agin Fergie lets the fans down by playing his reserves. This was the semi final of the Fa cup for goodness sake. Surely the travelling fans who have paid a fortune to see the game deserve to see the best team available. I personally would ban clubs from entering a competition if they deliberately play second string players. perhaps the fans could sue Man utd for providing a second class service. Because if you buy goods of an inferior quality you can get your money back from the manufacturer. By the way well done Everton.

A couple of days ago, he was blasting the Spanish waiter for showing disrespect to so called "smaller clubs", then he puts his reserves out in the semi-final of the greatest Club Cup competition in the World. He got what he deserved.......NOTHING. Then he blames the referee and the state of the pitch for the result. Well done, Everton. Here's hoping I can get a ticket for the final (doubt it, though. Probably all tickets will go to season ticket holders, corporate hangers-on and touts).

Oh dear!

Poor old Sir Alex!

Such a nice (not) man, and all this fuss over his selections.

Serves him right that his team lost.

I was so pleased.

It is truly unbelievable that Ferguson should play his reserves in such an important match.
He has personally thrown away the clubs chances of appearing in the Cup Final.- As has been said the greatest competition in the football world.
Agree with lesblue and steve - the fans deserve better.
Ferguson thinks he is God almighty and should be brought down to earth by someone.
He then has the audacity to blame the pitch and the referee for the defeat.
Well done Everton though - should be a better Final against Chelsea than Man U would have been
He always has to find something, or somebody other than himself or his "boys", to blame when things go wrong.

The truth is that his team were just not good enough to win.
xray

Is this the same competition the fa did not want united to play in a few years ago. You go and play abroad for the wooden FIFA cup united let the $ite lobbers have a chance

The little club for the cup stuff rafael

In addition to United's 31 Premiership games so far this season, they have played an addition 22 matches (not including friendlies). 53 in total so far. It is impossible for players to play that many matches, so SAF has given his younger players a chance in the Carling Cup and FA Cup competitions. It is only right that he should stick with these players all the way.

In the great scheme of things, winning the League is a bigger priority than winning the FA Cup. It is more of an achievement, it earns more money, and gets the team into the Champions League. If a team wants to attract the best players in the world, they have to be in the Champions League. Just look at Manchester City, the richest Club in the world, and no decent players want to go there because they are not in the Champions League.

It might have been prudent to have had some stronger players on the bench to come on if the fledglings didn't have a result with say 20 minutes remaining, but that didn't happen.

There cannot be many football fans who have not been entertained by United this season.
That was a lot of words to say it is not the greatest competition in the football world
Gromit - spot on!

Perhaps if managers who are not prepared to play there first team players in domestic cup competitions stated this before the season started, than perhaps all paying fans could vote with there feet. Also why don't the clubs who persist in this unaccaptable "rip off" only charge the fans say a 5 entrance fee to watch, because after all they are only seeing A and B team players. Also all this tosh about more important games frankly makes me sick. I remember Man Utd winning the cup in 1963 and at the same time fighting for survival in the old first division. Not once did the truly great manager Sir Matt Busby play second string players in the cup run. After all winning games breeds success.
gromit-saf had to spend money to get the team he has got so stop having a go at city, typical red.
what the f&&k has that comment got to do with the actual question asked.
your club was founded in 1878,not 1992.
c.t.i.d
moan moan moan
yeah
thats a good one
the pitch.
they think they are invincible,so he puts out a changed utd side thinking he could win.
retire fergie,,coz the little red devils are asking for your head.
(Taken from the rules of the FA Cup) -

15. PROVISIONS CONCERNING PLAYERS
(a) Each team participating in a match shall represent the full available strength of each competing Club.

Which obviously means that each team must play their best available side. How do the likes of Man U get away with this whenever it suits them?
It's about time the FA actually enforced this rule. And if they ever do, watch them pick on a "lowly" club to set an example. Someone like my team, Boro. Yeah, yeah, I know, we don't have a strongest team, etc. etc. I've heard them all before so don't bother!
United, like every other team have a pool of players available for matches. The decision as to who plays can involve many factors, fitness levels, weather conditions, state of pitch, etc. Doubt if anyone could win their case based on heresay.

Northboy, if Fergie does retire, whoever takes over will still leave City in the shade.
