Hello , I have just been into town for a short while and am still giggling at what a few misheard words can do .
I was in the queue at the bakery with my step father and when it was our turn to be served he told the assistant what he wanted . She turned away to get a bag and hadn't heard what he said . She asked again and I said
" He said he wants an iced bun " . She tried not to giggle as she tried to figure out what I meant . To her ears it had come out as " Hee what a nice bum " .......doh !

bigm:

No, my mother didn't need a reason to laugh - she just used to burst out laughing spontaneously!

My earliest recollection was when we were kids and she took my brother and I on one of those "mystery tours" (usually ending up at the seaside!), during the school hols.(couldn't afford a "proper" holiday).

So, we're all looking out of the window of the double decker bus we were on when mother simply began to guffaw, tears streaming down her face. The bus was rocking long before we got anywhere near the seaside !!!
