I have recently purchased a sony vaio laptop with vista. I have gone through the step by step intructions to connect to the internet. It says that it is connected but when i open IE it cannot display the page because i am 'not connected to the internet'. I am able to open web pages using a cable but not wirelessly. I have trawled through all the help books and sites but not found anything which has solved the problem. Can anybody please help me?

yes and iv had no problem connecting using my older laptop which is xp
Have you physically turned the wireless connection on ? On a laptop, it is usually something like pressing the Fn key as well as (for example) F2 ... or there may be a little button on the side or front of the laptop to switch it on. In the manual, this may be indexed under *radio* rather than *wireless connection*.
Is this a new router?

If it is an old one you had working with a previous laptop, try resetting it and then setting up your security with the laptop connected by cable.
Have you flicked the switch to enable wireless.

My Vaio has a switch on the front, and if off, cannot work.
