ABE suggestion - please can people be encouraged to have the politeness to either thank those of us who help them, or to recognise that we tried and tell us we were wrong.  The site is quickly turning into a chat room, and I'm all for that.  But if you want to keep it as an answer bank, then people need to have a reason to give answers.  Ignoring attempts at help is rude and surely against the spirit of the site.

Or am I just 22 going on 82 and being a miserable old goat?

Marge, thyme works just as well, Rosemary is traditional but some say it tends to ruin the flavour of the meat. Rosemary is a must for the potatoes though.
Roast lamb is amazing studded with slices of garlic.  Just push the slices down into the fat before roasting.  This has turned into a food and drink thread!  Anyway, everybody round to MargeB's for supper.

Robinia - I'm never without Nestle's Tip Top. It's low fat & is soooo moooorish.

I'll bring some apple pie & Tip Top round to Marge's house with me then!

You're all most welcome. Better be quick, I've never got through lamb so fast in my life. Now I've got a rhubarb crumble fixation!
