My 4 1/2 month old Rhodesian Ridgeback has taken to eating white dog poo !! Any ideas why this might be ?? Is there a property of the white stuff that attracts him ? He treats all other poo in a normal manner - quick sniff and then moves on - any ideas ? Is it really bad for him ? (I do stop him as soon as I spot him)

On a similar vein, why do some dogs do white poo ? Is it from a particular breed or is it because of a lack of something in the diet ? Thanks.

Spotted aprevious answer from Quizmonster stating that white dog poo is from dogs that have been eating bones and thus producing calcium rich poo.

Is this why my pooch goes for the stuff ??

Two of my dogs have enjoyed normal brown poo both dog and cat variety!  Yuk,  I have been told by the vet that this is because it is rich in protein.  Quizmonster is right about the reason for white dog poo, so perhaps your dog does go for it because of the calcium content.
give the pooch a bone once a week and see if it stops his crazy cravings

Try to introduce a little fibre into your dogs diet, that sometimes has a good affect on dogs that eat inappropriate things. Fibre would have the effect of keeping the dog full for longer.
