Is it safe to leave the oven on cooking something while you go out for an hour?

I guess you should be ok, as we have done it before but I guess really you shouldn't risk it just incase.
I leave mine on whilst gambling all my pension away at the dog track - but I also have the timer set.....
Not if your pies only going to take half an hour ;-)

Really I think it should be, I often do it but only going out to the shop or something. If your sure how long you will be.
I leave my jacket spud in the oven while I go to my WW meeting :-)
kidd that's why I only leave mine with the timer set - if anything happened to delay your return at least the oven would have switched off........
`Er in doors` leaves our`s on for hours at a time if she is cooking a nice thick steak, `cus Oi likes it well done, see`mind you it`s on timer. Nice with a pint of `zoider`
When I'm working I set the timers so the oven comes on before I get home, sometimes for hours, depending what I'm cooking.
I used to, now I don't. I popped out to the supermarket leaving a dish in the oven, I broke down and got home hours later to a kitchen on the brink of burning itself out. never again!
