at the end of terminator 3 - they found a hidden facility in a mountain that was supposed to be for officials, presidents, commanders etc - to be used in the event of...well something insane like world war 3 via nuclear war.

do those kinda places exist for real? in the terminator 3 version the technology was outdated - do you think thats realistic? wouldnt it be in the governments interest to keep these places up to date? presuming they exist!

Oh yes, these places are real OK. Not far from where I live is 'The Secret Bunker', which is now a visitor centre and tourist attraction but was a secret underground bunker for government ministers and officials during the Cold War. It has an outdated, retro look about it, though I daresay had it still been in operation they would have added new computers and updated the technology. I've been there myself and well recommend a visit.

visit the site:

click on this and take a virtual drive through the bunker in wiltshire-miles of road and lots of buildings etc

Apparently there's one under Milton Keynes, because no-one cares if MK gets flattened when the enemy tries to nuke it.
