Does your computer meet the minimum specifications for Google Earth?
Hi Gonzo;-)..It does the same with me,i'm just going to delete it,cos it seemed to slow my laptop down as well. I installed it for the streetview stuff, but, then discovered that you dont need google earth at all for that, just google maps! Doh!
try this, select the microsoft maps

the speed of your google earth is dependent on the speed of your internet connection. It might be that the newer google earth has a greater drain on your connection which isn't coping, speculative but plausible

many thanks for all your answers..it used to run fine on this comp but since i had a guy sort out a virus and reformat the whole thing it jus dosen't want to work! will find out about my ram...lol! many thanks all :0)
download and install the latest drivers for your graphics card from the manufacturers website. often these "guys" that reinstall computers don't bother and leave it using the windows drivers, which are crap!

I have just added a 1GB RAM to my 5year old PC,leaving in the original 256,giving me a total 1.24GB of RAM.It's amazing how much faster it runs.

I am considering upgrading my RAM, but all the information I have read on the subject, tells one to increase it in pairs ie my computer has two 256mb of memory = 512mb and they suggest that I should buy two 500mb = 1.0 GB.

How have you managed to have two unequal lots of memory installed?

i've got it all sorted!!!! updated the drivers for my graphics card and is all working fine!
many thanks for all your help guys...gonzo :0)
anotheoldgit: this is only a recommendation.

Most machines right now have dual channels from RAM to CPU, so that it makes sense to split the memory evenly between these channels to get the highest efficiency.

But it's perfectly fine to have one RAM module; it'll just add a small queue to your system, which potentially will result in a small visible performance drop. But if you just browse the web and check emails, you might not see any performance hit at all.
your computer might be infected to the virus.

so scan the computer with the super anti spy ware .

check the requirements of the Google earth and meet the requirements to the Google earth.

if not than upgrade the ram of the computer.
