Hi, I rent my home through an estate agent at the moment I live on my own but I would like my partner to move in with me. Thing is I dont really want him on the tenancy agreement as I want to assume the responsibiliy for the property as I do now and the fact that should things not work out I can keep the house I love. Do you think this is possible or will my partner have to be named on the tenancy and therefore becoming joint?

they would probably want him on the agreement (as i think you already suspect), because effectively that doubles the number of people they can pursue for rent. so if you lost your income, they could still pursue your boyfriend as being jointly responsible. if he isnt on the agreement you could both live there without paying rent and i cant see an agent or landlord wanting to risk it.
