please can anyone confirm if Noddy and Big Ears actually lived together?

No they didn't - Big Ears lived separately in a Toadstool house.

Definitely not - Noddy's house was made of building bricks and BigEars's was as aforementioned a toadstool AND Noddy had to drive to get there. No mj's here.
