I think that is what they are called!? They are little pieces of skin like a loose hanging mole without the colour. Hard to describe really. I am 32 and gradually over time more and more appear. Usually on the back of my neck and I have some on the front. Can anyone tell me what they are? and are they harmless and how can i get rid of them? thanks

This will upset everyone but my family have always tied a very tight piece of cotton thread round them (singly of course) at bedtime and normally they have completely disappeared the next morning - can't even find anything in the bed.  I expect everyone will disagree and comment on how dangerous this is - but works for us!!!
I wish it was that easy!! How tight do you have to tie it?! Basically the theory is, it only needs one tiny blood vessel to survive, so if you cut off it's supply, it dies and falls off! They are totally harmless, and if it bothers you, go to your GP and they can remove them for you.
Scarlett it is that easy and it doesn't hurt a bit - have been doing it over 50yrs.

Thats exactly what I do as well.

Make a loop with some cotton. (It helps if its a dark piece of cotton as well) Slip the loop as far down to the bottom of the tag as you can get... and tie. Tightly. Very tightly. Snip off the excess cotton and leave it alone. Initially, it may ache for an hour or so, as the reason it drops of is because the skin tissue 'necroses'... or dies as a result of lack of oxygen to the cells. This can cause very minor discomfort for a short period. Also.. they can grow back.... but hey.... I just tie 'em up again!

Is there a scar left when it drops off?!!
I tried the thread thing but couldn't get it to tie properly.  Went to doc and got it frozen off.
My husband has them and he went to the hospital to have them burned off with a lazer.
My sister had these too, and the Dr tied cotton round them, they went black then droped off ! so it must be a safe way to deal with them.

I had one just level with my arm pit, it started hurting one day, I checked it out and a hair had got wound around it.  It took a little longer than overnight to fall off but it did work.  Don't worry if it turn black, that's just the tissue dying. (It was a little painful, almost like having a loose tooth when your a kid and you keep wiggling it.)

They're totally harmless, just caused by your clothes or jewelary rubbing against you skin.
