Not sure if this should go in here or family life. Anyhow your comments and advice required!

My daughter, who is 14 came back from seeing her dad and step mum on saturday, she goes every friday night. Normally he stays up with her and watches a dvd or tv with her. Last week he and his wife had an "early night", leaving her on her own in the living room. When she came home she was quite upset. It turned out that their bedroom is directly above the sitting room and she was trapped in there for an hour hearing what was going on above her. She was too embarrased to go to bed herself. Her words to me were "I could here everything, every single word" She was, to me, visibly upset.

Since I began a new relationship I have always been conscious of making sure my daughter does not feel awkward about anything we do and she is my priority.

Now I feel that I should say something, but on the other hand a little too embarrased myself to broach the subject.

What would you suggest?

Thank you pips. It was a bit odd when he arrived, they spoke to each other, but no eye contact. She said things were ok with him, but his wife would not talk to her and would only answer her with one word. Perhaps she was annoyed that my daughter told me, or that I dare mention it, afterall their sex life is none of my business is it? I am sure she was embarrased.

Anyhow, his wife is away next weekend, so they are planning all the stuff not normally allowed, chocolate, fizzy drinks and a dvd. (Her little brother showed her where the chocolate is hidden......) Perhaps this will put them back on track.

Thanks for thinking of us Pip.

bless her, and good for you for dealing with it. they should be suitably embarrassed, but hopefully they'll all get over it.

I do feel for her though.. how cringey :o/
Hi, thanks for replying, I was thinking of you all as the situation was so similar to the one my own daughter went through, but her dad was not so understanding! Glad they've got a nice weekend coming up, by the time she sees the new wife again it will be forgotten hopefully. Take care.
