from april 30 to sunset on 2 may its the beltane celebration..where us pagans celebrate for the uniting of the earth and sky and for the life force i.e summer..i shall be burning incense and cooking a special meal..and gathering some greenery to bring indoors..health energy and optimism increase as we move into summer..the celebrated tree is the hawthorn ..its not in flower yet where i live but maybe in warmer places..their is a saying if you rise at dawn on may day morning and wash your face in the morning dew you will recieve peak potency in any aspect of your life..i think we should still celebrate the old pagan customs..even in a small way would do so old customs are not forgotton..and it makes life that little bit special..will anyone else be doing anything special?? or just ignoring it...

I was right along with you till you got to the rising at dawn bit...
Does it involve running around in the nuddy? I like that bit. Whilst not a pagan myself I do enjoy hugging the odd tree and celebrating the beauty of nature. Have a cider for me and have a wonderful Beltane.

I went up Glastonbury tor with a Pagan friend to watch the sunrise last Beltane. Should you want to, I assure you you will find plenty of like minded people there. It was a truly lovely experience. Happy Beltane, and heres to the summer!

no i wont be running around in the nude..perish the thought..i just celebrate in my own way..i wont be dancing around a bonfire either..a bbq will have to do..and a special cake..and yes the cider..i am glad i am growing elsewhere my own garden is over run with oxeye daisy..i planted some and they keep spreading even growing in cracks on the paths..i try to let my grandchildren celebrate the old ways by holding a little party for them and baking a cake decorated..so they look forward to special times..we just take summer for granted and every day is the same living on a treadmill so its nice to remember days of old..and the celebration of the seasons..
agreed, it is lovely to celebrate the change of season...I am a great one for seasonal food and activities generally

Your post intrigued me simply because I know zilch about pagan beliefs. In my ignorance I honestly thought you would be dancing nude around a bonfire whilst thrashing each other with twigs. Are there any sites you can recommend for an ignoramus like me to read up on the subject? Thanks.

P.S. I don't 'do' dawn either!
