I'm hoping to take my boyfriend away for his birthday in April, and was thinking maybe Dublin, however i have been there a few times when younger, and recently heard it can be very expensive...could anyone suggest a good get away place that is relatively inexpenisve for a two/three nights?

Thanks

We're just back from Dublin (also bf's 30th) and although it was expensive, it wasn't too bad, we were able to find things to do and places to go that weren't extortionate, and it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be!

ohhh good, i still have my heart set on going there really, as i know he would love it. where abouts did you stay?

Thanks
We stayed in the Burlington on Upper Leeson St, if you go through sites like alpharooms, hotels.com etc you can get a discount on the full price.

Don't know how much sightseeing you're planning to do but there's a hop-on-hop-off bus tour for 15 euro each, and most of the attractions (guinness factory, jameson's whiskey factory etc) you can buy the tickets online cheaper than you can buy them at the door
the clarion at the liffy valley is an excellent hotel to stay at, its about 20mins outside the city centre and is a lot cheaper than city centre hotels but has excellent facilities in it and in the vicinity
I would go for Edinburgh - stay at a Travel Lodge, there are 3 all in the City Centre to save your money for the sightseeing, restaurants, bars and shopping. You will hardly be in the room anyway as there is millions to do. Even though I am totally biased having been born and brought up in the city, I can honestly say that it is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. I have been to Dublin and yes it is nice, but I would say Edinburgh is better.
who cares he is only 30
