Is this a Racist Incident?

Saturday night in our local town, after Wales beat England at the rugby, some drunken Welshmen tore down the English flag from outside a pub and burned it, in the street. I must add that I live in a very Welsh part of Wales (Welsh is the first language for most people here), but there are a lot of English folk live here, too. I'm a Scot and I believe the Scottish flag is still flying outside the pub, but I'm still a bit aggrieved that this can happen and the local police were nowhere to be seen (surprise, surprise!!) I understand that the pub in question had all of the Six Nations flags outside, to celebrate the rugby tournament and now only those of the Celtic nations remain. I have friends around here who are English and I find this rather perturbing. What do others think and is this a racist incident (or, indeed, arson?). Should the police have done something about it?

Of course it's racist but as It only the English flag nothing will be done about it

Are you certain there was not something smouldering in the street and some of the locals, fearful that it may spread, thought on their fee, realized there was not a fire-blanket to hand so used the English flag to stop a catastrophe?
I don't think it is racist, everything is classed as racist at the minute! I just put it down to stupid drunken behaviour
There have been some cold nights lately, haven't there?

Thanks everyone - you've made me smile and, unfortunately Dave, you're exactly right!
this word ' racist' is a very one sided thing and very over used for all the wrong reasons..
I'm Welsh and support two teams - Wales and whoever England is playing!!
But for most of us this rivalry is for fun but wherever you are - from Dublin through to Bombay - you will always get some retard idiots.
The correct definition of 'racism' as far as police forces are concerned is any incident deemed to be racist by another person. Therefore, if they were to receive a complaint from someone complaining that a racist incident had happened because someone tore down an English flag - then it has to be treated as a racist incident. Of course, further down the line, the courts may decide it wasn't racist but that's not a decision for the police.
Personally I couldn't give a to55 about the welsh or the sweaties.

They are the one's with chips on their shoulders, let them have their own parliaments, lets go the wholew hog and make them raise their own tax revenue.

Oh hang on if it wasnt for England bailing them out they would be in a deficit.

6 nations and grand slam winners whoopee do

How many world cups have they won...
Errrrr....Jimmy.......that is a huge chip on your shoulder. Try putting some salt and vinegar on it
yawn

it pi55es me off when the welsh and scots go on about how much they hate the english but they like our money
I don't hate the English and I work for my money. My family originated in Bedford, Germany and Wales. I have relatives in Bedford, Liverpool and Leicester. I live in Wales and still support two teams!!!!!Just for the fun of it.
Pity that Jimmy has never been outside of England - it may open his eyes to the fact that there are other civilisations in existence.
Wonder if he's ever called a Scot a "sweaty" to his face? Or would he not get so close for fear that his massive chip would be spotted? Easier to hide behind the anonymity of this site, eh? That's what all brave men should do, eh Jimmy?
Mind you, with a handle like Jimmy, maybe you're really a "sweaty" yourself?
You're an embarrassment to England!
