My 8 weeks old daughter has quite dry skin on her face - is it ok to use baby lotion on it or is there something else that would be better?

Baby lotion might make her sting. A little baby oil, vaseline or a standard emolient like diprobase (although i recommend superdrugs own brand as its about 2 quid for a litre pot) has no extras in it that might cause her more irritation.

I find baby lotion stings if you are a little sore with the dryness.
aqueous cream is good, about 3-4 from boots / superdrug for a pot that lasts ages.
Hang on, before you slap on the the jollup reccomended by the two lovely ladies above (hiya girls!) please check with your GP or HV that it is infact just dry skin and not something like exchma (can never spell that right).

thank you for such quick answers!
I agree with BOO, my little one has dry skin which isn't exema and i was advised by HV to use doublebase cream which is about a fiver.
eczema B00! i have it, and still have to look up how its spelt lol

cidermonkey, B00 is right of course, but if it is just dry skin my answer stands.
at that age youll be lucky if a GP prescribes anything other than a diprobase cream for baby if eczema.
I would try E45 i have used this on all my kids even at a young age.

If worried speak to your health visiter
I would agree with above and recommend aqueous cream. You can also use it in the bath as an alternative to soap which will help with the dryness. You can get it on prescription.
Hi, my health visitor suggested olive oil for dry skin, worked brilliantly on my son, it works really well. Sounds a bit crazy but it's worth a try.
