electric oven

just put my electric oven on and the temperature wont change its constantly high, will this be the element, if so can you just buy replacements, i think the oven is about 6 yrs old tx

The element is obviously working (otherwise your oven wouldn't heat up at all).

It's the thermostat which controls the temperature, so that would appear to be what needs replacing.

I know very little about domestic appliances but a thermostat is a fairly basic piece of equipment, so I wouldn't expect a new one to cost very much. You'd need to pay someone to fit it, but it ought to be a fairly simple (and hence quick) job.

Hi jaycee.

I recently had both thermostats replaced (I have a Smeg double oven) and the bill came to �97.00, including labour.
Thermostats are about �20 typically on their own.
