Yes sorry, I didn't bother to read question. It's Aslan.
Wikipedia says it's Turkish, Persian, Chechen and Mongol for 'lion', but I think it's originally Arabic. Can anyone confirm that?

My betting is that Lewis got it from Persian (which youre supposed to call Farsi these days). He would have studied the mythology which for him prefigured Christianity as the early apologists claimed the OT did.
