before I apply for any jobs I want to check what is held on national computer for me , to avoid any future embarrassment. Do I write to the police station where I was questioned (but never given a caution or anything)

To get hold of a copy of your 'police record' you simply need to request the information from your local police force (addressing the letter to their HQ, rather than your local police station), provide proof of ID, and pay a 10 fee. The police have up to 40 days to respond.

This link is for West Yorkshire police but a look at the form will show you the information that you need to include with your request:

You might have to make a request under the freedom of information act, otherwise they might not have to respond. It won't show anything about questioning though. Your enhanced CRB check will only be sent to your employers - you can't request one on yourself - and will show everything, including information the Police think is relevant, for example if you had been questioned about but not charged with sex offences.
Im very sure that even enhanced police checks only have convictions registered or any sex offences they have investigated.
Dont expect the report for about 4 minutes.
4 months i mean. 4 minutes would be very bizarre

so could I ask a family member who has a business to apply for an enhanced check?
These checks also include if u have ever been accused of anything...even if found innocent!! They show all criminal convictions so you must be totally honest on application forms. Good luck.
