this is a very sad time for me as at 6 oclock tonight im going to the vets to have my 20 year od cat put to sleep, he has well used his 9 nine lives and has been an amazing white perfect nuisance. When anyone came to the house he presumed they had come to see him, even those who were not cat lovers, He has been a healthy beast but we think he had a stroke or similar on sat night and fell down the stairs, Im just so sad, I stayed up with him all night and have nursed him all day and I just feel so sad. We have another cat the same age and just know we will have to go through the same again. Sorry if im going on a bit but other anmal lovers will knw how i feel

thank you all so much for your kind posts, its all over now and i managed it, i held him until the very end and it was very peaceful, he is to be cremated and we will get him home next week. What a character was our Boo, he was going to be drowned as a kitten but we took him, he was huge and had a season ticket at the vets forthe first few years, think he liked fighting but wasnt very good at it. He could open the fridge door by putting his claws in the rubber bit round the side, we lost many sunday lunches even with a child lock on it. He loved to be hoovered! followed you everywhere until he got his 3-4minutes of vacuuming. More than once he tried to get a rabbit through the catflap. Over the last five- six years we could not have a holiday unless one our children came home and stayed in the house with him.. Someone popping in to feed him was no use, his howling drove all the neighbours mad. I could write of his exploits all night but I think you will get the picture. Thank you so much for your kind words, I can honestly say they have helped me tonight. In memory of my beautiful Boo xxx

Dear Twirlgirl

I have only just seen yr post and would like to tell u how sorry I am to hear yr sad news. I went through exactly the same emotions as you last July when we lost our dear Tinker, who was a mere 16 yrs a baby in comparison to your Boo.

Even now 8 months later, the tears well up inside me, but please remember you are not alone in your grief, there are lots of people myself included who are here to help you.

my cat had a stroke, one minute he was running in doors from the garden and within half an hour he too lost the use of his legs and was in great pain. it was straight to the vet who assured us that he would not get better.

you have your memories, and u know what I did, I made Tinker a little garden where he used to lay in the summer, and at christmas I bought him a little christmas tree for his garden. I took photoes of the tree and I swear I can see my Tinkers face in the bottom of the tree. I have also received several reassurances that he is safe and not in any more pain. He is also here at home sometimes because my other cat senses it.

just get through every day, it will get better, and take care yourself.

lots of healing love xxxx
I hope you are ok this morning. I am thinking of you. I lost my bonny boy when he was only 9 and felt so cheated that he went so young. My heart broke and I know how you must feel. Rainbow bridge has called and give yourself comfort that you did what was right. Hugs to you and your family.

thanks again for your sincerity, didnt sleep well last night though i was exhausted, my husband is now regretting leaving him at the vets for cremation, he would have rather take him home and bury him here but the snow has been very bad here, theres so much lying we would have had a struggle to do it. At 5 oclock tonight the florist came to the door with a huge bunch of white (like Boo) flowers from our daughter, she could barely speak last night for crying herself and i felt as sorry for her. I will enjoy my flowers and my memories, thanks again, Trish XX
sorry to hear about your cat xxxxx
