I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop, and if someone uses it and then doesn't plug the charging cable back in it just blacks out when the battery runs down. Can anyone tell me if it can be set up to warn you before the battery runs out, preferably an audible warning?

click start > control panel then click "switch to classic view" in the top left (if it's not already in classic view)

then double click power options and click on the alarms tab and you can set the low battery warnings up there.

Thanks for the quick reply, but when I click on power options I don't get an alarms tab.
It's a dell
assuming it's a dell build
there will be a specific application somewhere in your start menu

I had the same problem with my Dell Inspirion 1525. I managed to get a power icon in the notification area on my taksbar. This does not produce an audible warning but it does flash when the battery is getting low.

As far as I remember I achieved this by going to the control panel, double clicking on Taskbar and Start Menu Properties, then click on notification area and make sure that there is a tick in the power option to always show it in the taskbar.

Hope this works for you.
