I agree - that's why they've got Sky Sports News to spend ages discussing it. I can understand it being one of the headlines but why not say "for in depth coverage, go to Sky Sports News..."
Its obvious where their priorities lie then.
it's closer to home and it's a new story; the fires are far away and have been going on for several days. And if the fires had been in Bangladesh they'd probably not have been mentioned at all.
do aussies give a to** about any tragedies that happen in the uk???...do you think that if the aussie cricket team beats england by 200 runs and 200 people are killed in a snow storm here what do you think would be the lead story in their newspapers?......THE CRICKET...........
Actually, Stokemaverick, while they were having the phenomenal heatwave that started this catastrophe last week, Australian TV and press were reporting the problems we were having with the snow here.
They must be listening to you, LeedsRhino. At 8.30 tonight they led with Australia and made Chelsea second item !

British snow has been getting into overseas papers, stokemaveric - rather humorously in countries that get more snow than we do and can't believe the fuss. Here's an Australian report:

Steve.5 i think you know in what context my unbelievable was meant
thanx jno we dont seem to be coping to well do we?lol.....but as tragic as this is in oz the main headlines over there next week will probably be of a surfer being gobbled up surfing off bondi beach..................
There are no snow reports Now they have report something really important! Chelsea have no Manager, how will the world cope!!
Could be worse. Portsmouth could have lost their manager, Tony Adams. Now that would be serious !
Sky had probably been running the fire story all day and whilst it is a tragedy, many people will be interested in the Scolari story.

Have you got any family? Anything in your life that you'd die to protect?

And yet you've chosen as your login name your favourite rugby league team.

See, we do care about sport.
What has made these fires so much worse is that some bl00dy ******* has deliberately lit some of these fires .Alot of Victoria ( A State in Australia) is being treated as crime scenes ,whole towns have been razed to the ground,it is expected that the Death toll could rise to 300 .People were incinerated in their cars while trying to escape from the fires and some s bodies are still in the burnt-out houses .It's a job of mammoth proportions for those who have to deal with it . We are still part of the Commonwealth ,are we not .
Australia is one of the first countries to send money and aid to Asian countries (remember the Tsunami in Indonesia etc.) Bangladesh has nothing to do with this .We've also had the Northern half of Queensland under water from flooded rivers at the same time and people still say - It's bad, back in the Uk -all that snow etc,etc .
Despite the cricket rivalry -which I can do without - we do care about the Uk.
I have to go onto SkyNews regularly throughout the day and they change the top story a number of times during the day.

Scolari became the top story a soon as it broke late afternoon, the Aussie fires had been the top story as well yesterday.
