We have an old man living next door and a friend of my daughters threw a snowball at his window by accident, the kids apologised and continued to play avioding that direction, he'd shouted at them threw the window but continued to stare at them, they waved thinking there was no problem and he swore with his fingers, the kids came in and told me what happen, was a little taken aback, but morning after we had a note through the door stating my daughter 'can throw snowballs where she likes BUT NOT AT OUR WINDOWS thank you. If i'd have thrown snowballs at windows when i was a kid i'd have got a crack.' the kids had gone and apologised AGAIN but not any apology from him for swearing and snotty letter acusing my daughter when it was cleary not her. Now i don't know if to approch this old man again and put him right or just egnore him. I get the impression he's trying to tell me to get my daughter to behave by hitting her but he can behave the way he wants giving no example to the younger generation. My daughter is very well behaved for her age and has never previously caused problems with him. Any suggestions.

Don't let him make your daughter feel bad. Tell her that he is a sad old man. Tell her that he must be very unhappy to behave the way he does.
tell your daughter she has apologised and he is just ignorant.

Ignore him till he brings up the incident......then rip into him.
Poor guy. He's probably just lonely.

It's tempting to be arsey, but probably better just to ignore him.

Thanks guys, you know when something like this happens you want to show your child how to deal with things and i just feel helpless, we had a problem with the other neighbours son entertaining ladies in his room in the early hours and his loud music, i informed the houseowner 3 times then with a letter and it finally worked never hear a thing since. But this old man scares my daughter, she will only play out when she has a friend round (not very oftem as non live close) I have explained that he's just misrable and nothing better to do. Is'nt is normally the older end complaining about the younger one's behaviour?
