I was coming out of Tescos car park, and they have this stupid system where all the cars leaving the car park have to pass in front of the shop! There is a zebra crossing and more often than not you have to stop for shoppers. But this time there was a securicor van just past the crossing, and then all of a sudden, just as I was passing said van, a man stepped out from behind it........It's a good job I was going slow! He waved at me and mouthed 'sorry'. But it shook me up a bit.

Nannyjill.................I was thinking about it all the way home, but you are right, he had probably dismissed it straight away.

Mrs.o............whatever logic says about women drivers, I have never had an accident and I have been driving since I was 18.
But a near miss does make you wonder if you have become complacent. I'm happy to say my reflexes are good!!
:-)
I feel for you Dani, afterall what does this berk who drives a gas guzzler knows about driving??!!
Question Author
I drive one too funnygirl.
:-)
Daniela, I wish I could see more people like you and that guy on the road.

We all make mistakes - in this case it was the bloke's mistake and not yours. He seems to have acknowledged that by mouthing a 'sorry' to you. Don't feel bad. You did nothing wrong and at least you've been able to acknowledge the apology and didn't get angry about someone's genuine mistake.

I've been in his situation before - almost cleared someone up, pulled out in front of them or some other near miss. If I've known it's been my mistake I have always tried to mouth my apology, yet so many just bang on and get really angry about things, even when they don't have a point to make.

If it makes you feel better, why not write to the security company and tell them how you feel?

In my case NoKnowledge, you wouldn't be far out. No accidents in 42 years and no points on my licence. And I don't drive slowly like Logic infers!!

Daniela, I would be shaken up too. It does make you stop and think about your driving though. Your reactions are obviously good!!

saxyjag.
It's ok really. The securicor van parks so close to the shop for their own safety. The man crossing had other things on his mind I expect, re; flowers, so he was unaware of the correct place to cross.

I'm just thankful that my reflexes were in tip top form today, and no harm was done. :-)

Lottie, it's been said to me so many times when I've said 'I havn't had an accident yet', that I might be tempting fate.
I hope not, but I'm glad it was only in the car park and I was going slow.
i once had a lad on a skateboard come flying down a hill and onto the road i was driving along.
Luckily he jumped off as, even though i stopped as fast as i could, his skateboard went straight under my wheels.

The lad look terrified, but even more so when the driver of the car behind me (which had stopped just as fast) got out of her car and slapped him around the head.

Turns out it was him mum and realised that it had been his stupid mistake.

that shook me up all day, just wondering what if, but as i said, he wasnt hurt so i shouldve let it go.

if the "what ifs" that scare, isnt it
Supermarket car parks seem to be one of the most likely places to have an accident. Shopping frustrates people and trolleys are all over the place, kids whizz out from behind cars, and cars drivers often just reverse out without looking properly. A complete minefield.

I always get very aggravated by the bright sparks who drive too fast in car parks. We get a fair few boy racers in the Tesco car park here!!

Remember a few months ago when somebody, I think it was Karmgirl, nearly cleaned somebody up at a roadworks,? well I'm just trying to do to you what you did to her that day, (poor sod ) I felt sorry for her.
For Red:

Next town down, seawards!!
Question Author
The driving out system should be changed. It's stupid to have cars criving past the front of the shop to get to the exit.
The whole car park needs re-designing.

I may even write to Tescos and complain about this.
And take no notice of fanny girl,
She only drives a bread bin.
Question Author
logic....................that was completely different! and you know it.
she admitted to speeding, and racing through a road works!!
I know that,

Just trying to make you feel bad, :-)
Question Author
I did feel bad all the way home. :-(

But talking to all you lovely people on here has made me feel better.

Thank you everyone, for your kind responses.
:-)x
