At present they are expanding the company abroad. I saw that they had opened a store in Thailand. If they are making a profit from other countries as well as our own then I dont mind.

Its not just the fact that they are making a profit from our country (arent tesco a british company?) but they are obviously employing thousands of people across britain, so how can this be a bad thing?

whats the alternative, drive to the high st, find somewhere to park, worry about getting a ticket, its cold and miserable half the time, not to mention the nattering that goes on!

Tescos and all other supermarkets have exploited this and offered us everything under one roof, it obviuosly fills a gap in the market because so many people are using it.  Thats business- supply & demand.

Good on 'em I say

P.S. I went to Thailand 4 years ago and there was already a Tesco there.

Please read 'Shopped' by Joanna Blythman, published by Harper Perennial in paperback at 7.99 - as a result of reading this book I have completely stopped shopping at supermarkets except where I can't buy an item anywhere else (e.g. Campbells V8 vegetable juice I have only ever seen in Asda and JS). It's fairly recently published.  I never realised how badly supermarkets treat their suppliers. M&S don't get quite as much a panning as the big ones.  I now use my local Asian grocer for all vegetables, buy as much as possible of everything else in local shops, and quite surprisingly it is often cheaper than in the supermarkets.

(How much does it cost the environment to jet in mangetout from Kenya ??)
