Hi, I am looking at booking a weekend in Leeds at the end of Jan. I wanted originally to book for 42 Calls but have read some ropey reviews. Could anybody recommend a nice hotel or apartments in the City?

Thx both white bear and Auntbertie. Had looked at tripadvisor which is where I saw the reviews for 42 the calls.

Think we are going to go for the Renaisance6. Gets the best reviews on tripadvisor and looks nice on the website
Well i live in the Leeds City Centre, The Calls is not bad (alot of students hang around there though), not sure what the place is like , infact i did try to find a place around there but was too expensive for me. its only expensive because its by the River.

the Jurys Inn, is actually in Clarence Dock (very beautiful and romantic, esp when you have a clear sky!)and is just round the corner from The Calls. ... ten mins walk to the city centre too.
thats bang in the City Centre! nr all the Banks!!

thats it though.... looks lovely inside. if you decided to stay there dont forget to go for a walk by Clarence Dock.. very peaceful and romantic :) xx have a lovely time.

Thx whitebear. Have stayed in Leeds before but fancied somewhere a bit different. The calls had been recommended but too many of the reviews on tripadvisor
mentioned the noise. Where we are booking is actually called residence6 ,not renaisance6. It is the old post office.
Will have a look at Clarence Dock it looks very nice on the link
hey trout

residence6, is a really nice building, never been inside though, it is just down the road from High Street Banks, (park row). and very busy during the Weekends... lots of lovely bars and restaurants :-) go for it =)

the Clarence docks shops etc had only been open since November, Gok Wan did a fashion show there, was quite good :-)

(the calls is quite noisy cos of the students.)

You can have my spare room for 50 a night including a full fry-up! 11 minutes into Leeds on the train,or 10 minutes the other way gets you on the edge of the Dales and a bracing walk on Ilkley Moor (bah t'at) to walk your breakfast off.
