I am currently running my pc in safe mode.

On normal start up I just get the Xp logo and the back and forth little blue box, and thats it.

So I switch off at the plug and I then get the option to run in safe mode.

The pc was fine before this happened and I have plenty off disk space etc etc.

Cheers.

There could be anyone of a hundred reasons why it won't start up. It could be a hardware problem, or it could be windows or drivers are corrupted in some way (more than likely). In all honesty the best thing to do is take it to a computer engineer and see if they can sort it for you. When you start in safe mode you load the basic windows drivers so you could try reinstalling your drivers for m/board etc. Do you have separate driver disks or one main recovery CD? One other thing is save all your important docs/photos before taking it into an engineer, use a USB pen drive. Good luck
Eastern is right that it could be any number of things, but it could also be quite simple to fix.

The first things I would try would be a System Restore: START>ALL PROGRAMS>ACCESSORIES>SYSTEM TOOLS to a date before the problem occurred.

If still no joy, I'd try My Computer, Right-Click "C" then Properties>Tools>Check Now (check for errors) and tick both boxes. You may need to reboot to activate the check.

There are lots of other things that may help, but those would be my first tries.
