Sow carrots mid Feb under cloches for early`s or April/ March for main crop, in soil not fertilised since last year, or roots will fork. Sandy stoneless soil if poss.
Potatoes, April for main crop in rich soil, but not freshly manured.

In Northern Ireland it is traditional to plant early potatoes on St. Patrick's Day and dig them on the 12th of July. Religion,politics and gardening work well together here!
