What do i put in a letter of notice?

If i want to hand my notice in at work in a letter how should i word it? Serious responses please?

Keep it short and professional, no personal comments as references may be required later. Structure along the lines of 'sorry, time to go, more experience if I go, enjoyed my time here, sad to leave, suggested date of departure is xx (depending on notice requirements)

However, please consider my recent comment on your earlier thread about finances

I agree as well - don't be tempted to stick the knife in to people who you don't like at work. Some people have an exit interview when they leave a job, where they can have a moan and complain about people without fear of reprisals BUT you may need to put down the firm you are leaving as a reference for a future role- which gives them the chance to stick the knife into you!

The letter of notice is only a small, formall thing, so don't worry about it too much. As has been said, brief & proffessional - no-ones going to ponder over it. "I hereby give intent of my notice to terminate my employment as of the (date). I shall be sad to leave, and thank you far the last xx years. Yours etc." . job done, job gone.

Then go on to voice concerns if you have any stating that (possible concerns) were a contributing factor to you leaving.
