S, A, ?, A, ?S
The other sequences were geographical - highest mountains, largest seas, largest islands. I cannot figure this one out - it is almost deserts but not quite, well at least not in the lists I've found.

You haven't explained the context but could it be SALADS or, less likely, SATANS (names for the devil)

The letters represent a word/term as do the ?s, so in one that I have solved G, NG, ?, M, BI, ?, H the answer is
Greenland, New Guinea, ?= B(orneo), Madagascar, Baffin Island, ?= S(umatra), Honsha. They are a list of the biggest islands by land mass.
So I thought that S - Sahara, A - Australian, ?, Arabian, and ?S but this order is not correct for the largest deserts in the world.

All help much appreciated
