Is it mostly down to a side effect of the anti-depressant or is it anxiety or stress etc... causing the sleeping problems?

You could try something herbal to relax you and get into a more relaxing bedtime routine so even if you don't sleep, your mind and body is getting some kind of down time.

I don't know much about the drug so probably safer to check with your GP or pharmacist about what is and isn't safe to take with it and make sure they know if you are still taking the sleeping meds as that would also have a bearing.

Thats the trouble Jenna, Nothing herbal can be taken with Sertraline an ssri as it can cause serotonin syndrome. The Imovane are yuk! I'll see my gp again.
ive been on anti depressants on and off for yrs,i refuse to take them now as all they ever done to me was make me more depressed, more anxious,nervous,irratated,suicidal........ur better off without them, they never ever did me any good wotsoever ! i still get depressed but sit it out and i also find living a more healthy lifestyle and getting to gym helps me more than any pill ever did....
Good on ya tatu.

I went to my GP because I couldn't sleep and left with a perscription for antidepressants which I threw in the bin. I wasn't depressed....I was tired.

Im telling my gp I want to come off the sertraline, I know it has to be done slowly but I cant go on not sleepiing. Theres yoga relaxation classes in our leisure centre so Im trying that.
Hi, if i cant sleep i take syndol, they are used for tension headaches but they relax your whole body, so take one at night and you should be fine, but i would first check to make sure you can take them with your meds. Goodnight.
