I heard once that a pint of Guiness has the same amount of calories as a full christmas dinner - is this true?  I've heard Guiness called a meal in a glass but I didn't think it was literal!

Don't know about the Christmas dinner side of things but I beleive a recent Guinness ad campaign showed that Guinness had less calories per pint than beer.

The figures were something like 212 calories in lager, 198 in Guinness or similar.

All stouts however are renowned for being a good source of iron.

All beer is around 200 calories per pint, whether stout, bitter, or lager. Therefore, if you're down to deciding to have two pints of lager rather than two of Guinness, and are congratulating yourself on 'saving' about 80 calories, then life surely has become pretty sad.
When it comes down to it... Guinness is Guinness and I love it ! ! !
Perhaps the person that said that has a bowl of rice crispies for their Christmas dinner.
