Author / Book Title needed

During the late seventies as part of the school curriculum we read a book about a Polish brother & sister possibly orphans or seperated from their parents set during world War 2 , I believe it may have been In Nazi occupied Warsaw.
Despite a number of searches I have been unable to establish what this book was called or who the author may have been. Can anybody out there shed any light on what this book may have been

Could it have been The SIlver Sword, by Ian Serraillier?

I second 'The Silver Sword' - I remember it as a standard school text back in the day.

Thats so strange .I got out my copy of The Silver Sword today, before I read this thread, to lend to someone . It was the first book that ever reduced my ( Then young ) son to tears.
