Championship Manager 5 keeps hanging

I have just bought a new copy of Championship Manager 5 for my pc and although my machine meets all the recommended specs it hangs after about 5 mins of play which means I have to reboot the machine. Any ideas I have downloaded the latest NVIDIA patches for my graphics card and the latest patch from the game makers website. Do you think it could be a faulty copy of the game ???

there is a patch available already for this game so maybe you are not alone in your problems !
