Central London Bus Lane Penalty

Can I appeal against a penalty notice for driving in a bus lane if it was the sat nav that took me down there? I have received a letter from a London Borough Council for driving in a bus lane a few weeks ago. It was the first (and last) time I have ever driven through central London. The Sat Nav directed me down a bus lane and I'll admit that I should have spotted that it was a bus lane but to be honest I was that disorientated and on edge that I didn't even realise it was, until I was being beeped at by a taxi driver.

I didn't even think anything of it until I received a penalty notice through the post last night.

Do I stand a chance?

No.

You are the one in control of the car, not the sat nav

not the answer i wanted to hear, but thanks Ethel!
I was out driving the other day following the instructions on my sat nav and I ran over and killed three people. I intend to blame it on the sat nav when I go to Court. Do you think I'll get off?
This is apparently and ever growing problem, ie people beliving that sat Nav means not having to think at all!

alright *********,

it's not like i wasn't thinking, i been driving round in circles for 4 hours trying to make my way to the motorway, being sent down the wrong roads by the sat nav in central london on a saturday afternoon....

and so it's a bit easy to miss a sign isn't it?
