It's not something which people should generally do ad-lib terambulan, because despite it saving many women's lives, there's still an element of danger in all x-rays. As pudicat says, if there's no history of breast cancer in the family, and everything else seems alright, the choice is yours. x
tera cant believe what you are saying, but hey its your choice wish you well!!
Puddicat, every woman over 50 is invited for screening, because after that age you are more prone, and Tera, if you wait till you have signs and symptoms it may be too late!! I have seen many cases where it was just too established, so you really do need to take advantage of these tests!!
ice there is no history in mine but i still went, and yes i got a test thingy for bowel cancer, which i sent, but there is no history!!!
what you doing back Amoeba ?
Really am going to bed now, Goodnight All!
Ofcourse, Puddi, will live life my way. Wouldn't suit everyone but there are us who won't conform!
what danger icy.you could cross the road tomorro and get knocked down, omg i cannot believe this, tell me what the risks are from getting a mamogram??
i'm that bus driver lmao
I hope none of you ladies, including myself, ever end up with a scan resulting in a bad result.
It's true that very often, by the time any lumps or abnormalities show up, the disease is often well in progress, but my friend felt a lump in her breast. her doctor disputed it, saying he thought it was just "fatty tissue". She was invired to go along for a scan, went, and is now very glad that she did. She's doing well after her op, and atm, there are no signs that anything's returned.
Too many errors in checks......no confidence in the system! Docs today seem desperate for experience and am not being their guinea-pig!
I have to say I'm glad for the screening system.

I'm 30 but now on a regular screening programmes for both breasts and bowels because of previous things they found on scans.

They might not be pleasant but I'd be grateful for any heads up I get which may potentially make a big difference to my health in the future.
Only just found this thread shanz & hope you feel a bit better this evening. -x-

P.S. I know it's a very necessary procedure, but I never look forward to having it done! The nurses hands are always so cold, as are the plates your bazoomas are squashed into!

Sorry, but I had to get that off my chest - pardon the pun!
Take some painkillers at least an hour before you go & don't shut your eyes as that makes pain worse. Learn prana breathing from yoga - it really helps to think through discomfort.
