PLEASE HELP probs accessing hotmail

My laptop is playing funny beggers. I can access some sites - mainly my hotmail inbox. I can get onto the MSN homepage but not anything related to hotmail. Any pointers for a solution would be most helpful - it's driving me mental.

Ok, what happens when you click on the sign in link ?

absolutely nothing - says connecting then does that for about 5 minutes then says network timeout. I can get into messenger, windows live, my msn, just won't let me into my emails.
