My very poorly week old baby has mastitis. He has been given antibiotics, has anyone else ever experienced this ? Also he is breastfed but is really struggling to feed lately, often choking or screaing in pain. Could this be associated or might he have colic too ??

if he is choking when trying to feed then speak to your Health visitor or midwife. It may be that hes just got a bunged up nose thats preventing him feeding properly or he may not be latched on correctly.

as for the screaming, is it at any particular time of day? does he pull his legs up tight to his tummy? is he windy?
Please phone your health visitor or your GP. They are there to help you and with a week old baby you should get immediate attention. You really must do this. I am sure he will be fine, but both of you will feel much better if you get this sorted. x
