how to find examination board?

my husband is trying to find the examination board for Bucklers mead school in Yeovil for 1986, he rang the school who were less than helpful and couldnt give him an answer.

he wants to apply to teacher training through UCAS but the application form needs the exam board, we cant find his certificate.

does anyone have any ideas of who to try next?

Contact the local education authority http://www.somerset.gov.uk/somerset/learning/ and ask if they can help. The basic info you need is which exam boards they dealt with at that school.
If they prove less than helpful get in touch with Yeovil library - the local studies section should be able to find old prospectuses etc from the school; old newspaper reports of GCE results will name the exams and the boards.
And next time tell him to keep them safe!

Should that not prove fruitful contact QCA which is the body now responsible for qualifications. They should have past records.
