My husband gets a small private pension and works part time.
He pays all of his tax on the salary.
He recently found out that his tax codes were wrong and he is due a rebate.

Question is: Does anyone know if the rebate will come directly from the tax office or if it will paid in his wages?

Thanks for any replies.

It depends on the total amount of the rebate.
The tax office may give him a choice by asking him if he wants to be paid back by cheque or by altering his tax code through his employer for the coming year.
That's what happened to me, anyway.
I chose to take the cheque so I could immediately place the money into a high earning account.
There's nothing to stop his telephoning or writing to the tax office to ask. Hope this helps.
