The New York Times proclaims...

After devising a bank rescue plan that has now been endorsed by European and American officials and has sent global stocks soaring, Gordon Brown is being celebrated worldwide.

Isn't it great that Britain is seen to be leading the world once more, and has shown great leadership and character. Anyone with a patriotic bone in their body must be very proud at the moment

He always was a great chancellor, and quite often provided great solutions to Tony Blair. Blair was a great Prime Minister. It's a shame that Gordon couldn't go back to being just a chancellor supporting a better prime minister.

That said, it's nice be back in a position in which GB is listened to on the world stage. Totally in agreement with you.
Generally I've always thought he was a waste of space but hey, credit where it's due, he's played a blinder here so well done Grodon. Yes Gromit I'm delighted that it our soon to be ex government leading the world in this financial fiasco.

He found 37billion needed to rescue Royal Bank of Scotland and Halifax/Bank of Scotland.

'The total value of the bailout to the Scottish banks is approaching the size of Scotland's GDP of 100billion, and that would have been difficult for Scotland to cope with on its own.'

BUT !!!!!

"What did Brown ever do for the English"?

You speak as if the banks of Scotland are only for Scotland?

There is probably a lot more English Money invested in the Banks than there is Scottish.

Therefore the bail out benfits a hell of a lot more English people than it does Scotish people.

Seriously could you guys just once, PLEASE think about what you say before opening your petty vile traps and letting it all waffle out!

Is it just possible that Alistair Darling - another great British Scot and Chancellor to boot - is the real hero and inspiration behind Gordon Browns world economic masterpiece and personal political resurrection. Could it just be the world is celebrating the wrong financial mastermind ?
