you shouldn't have to!

Windows starts, you see the windows login screen, you click your name and enter password (if needed) your desktop loads.

what else is happening and where?
hi henrys how are you?

Have you two different users with two different log ins?
You just delete one profile, or just log in as one of the profiles at the start up.
on mine when windows xp starts up there is a blue screen with a plaer blue bar thru the middle that shows my profile and my individual icon, but sometimes if someone else has set up their own profile it comes up aswell, i think this is what henrys is on about.
How do you connect to the internet henrys?

if you use a modem (either olde worlde dial up or broadband) then I suspect the second "login" is the prompt to connect to the internet... if that is the case it's easy to make that automatic so it doesn't prompt you.

Do you have to log on before you get to the normal Windows log on screen? If so, you may have a BIOS password set up.
