i am applying for a job as an archive technician and have reached a question and Iam not sure what to write.

Q: Please show your awareness of, and commitment to, Equal Opportunities, both in terms of employment and service delivery.

what should i say? "i'm not a racist and treat everyone i meet the same as i would want to be treated". it sounds like the obvious answer but do they mean something else?

Something in the order of perhaps, "I am fully aware of our current expanding population with ethnic minorities living with us and I embrace the challange to understand and welcome such people. We all have a responsibility to adapt to change and I accept all interactions with equal passion"
A bit ott but it gets to the point.
".....I feed/walk and care for Gandi, a mongrel dog rescued by my neighbour Azif, while he is at the mosque......"

What is an archive-technician? I think the question is cheeky.

Equal opps is not just about race. It is also about access to services for people who are disabled, have sight, mobility or hearing difficulties, learning difficulties and so on.
It is recognising that every is not the same.
In terms of work it is asking if you are aware that accommodations need to be made to ensure as many people as possible, whatever their situation can access the services you offer, or at least you have made every effort to enable this.
And that your attitude towards people when you are at work reflects this. I.e you may dislike someone for whatever reason you decide, but that cannot affect the way you treat them if connected to work.
