My daughters best friend recently disappeared to Spain with some money my girl lent her. The fact she won't get her money back isn't whats bothering her.
This girl told my daughter that her mother had died and my daughter has been given information recently that this might very well be a lie. My daughter knew this woman well and wanted to pay her last respects to her. But she's got the funny feeling her so called best friend has lied to her and she needs to find out. The woman would have been buried in a close by church and I wondered if there is any way to trace her in the church records.
I know it sounds a bit weird but my daughter needs to know because this girl and her mum meant a lot to her and she hates the thought that she has lied about something like this.
Thanks for your help.

You could maybe try and contact the local authority, births marriages and deaths. The death woould need to be recorded so they would be able to help you.

Hope you get it sorted for your daughters piece of mind. Good Luck
when was the mother supposed to have died?
They are a matter of public record on genealogy sites up to 2005, i could look for you if you want to mail me the details.
If its more recent you could look in teh announcements in the local paper....

It was about 4 or 5 months back now. The girl in question was into drugs and a lot of heavy boozing at the time but even so my daughter said if she needed the money to get away to her mother in Spain she would have helped her get it. she didn't have make up a lie like this.
You could always check the local newspaper. Some of them, like the Manchester Evening News have these details on line. If not go to your local library who should have back copies of the local paper.
